Vice Minister Yi Xiaozhun's Speech on the 11th Session of the General Conference of UNIDO

Yi Xiaozhun, Vice Minister of Commerce and head of Chinese delegation, pointed out in his speech on the 11th Session of the General Conference of UNIDO that there were two big development tendencies of world multi-polarization and economic globalization, and challenges and opportunities coexisted; in the past 30 years, LDC in the world doubled, the gap between the South and North continued to widen. Chinese delegation believed that insisting on multilateralism, strengthening international cooperation and promoting world development were important foundation to maintain world peace and promote social progress, and common desire and general request of the international society, as well as important task of UN organizations including UNIDO. The international society especially the developed countries should take practical measures to increase development fund greatly to help developing countries get rid of vicious circle of debt, reduce debt, simplify the procedure and join efforts to lessen the gap between the South and North. China would adhere to her basic policy of opening to the outside world, build a more open market system, continue reducing tariff, expand open, carry out cooperation on equal footing and promote mutual benefit and win-win strategy. Vice Minister Yi Xiaozhun said that China would be a strong supporter and close partner of UNIDO and China would continue strengthening cooperation with UNIDO.
